Universal Children Day

In 1954 the United Nations General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children.

Universal Children's Day is now observed across Australia on the fourth Wednesday in October and forms the central focus of Children's Week celebrations.

Activities and events organised for Children's Week by individuals, groups and organisations, focus on
    * the right of children to enjoy childhood
    * the celebration of children and young people
    * the highlighting of their skills, achievements and needs
    * acknowledging and supporting parents, carers and all those associated with the well being of children and young people

This fits naturally with the concept of community, living and working together for the benefit of our children and young people.
