On Sunday morning, Green Cross Australia gives Brisbane families a chance to meet a few members of a new generation of heroes at a neighbourhood fair in Perrin Park, Taringa.

The Green Cross campaign, Extreme Weather Heroes, aims to increase the number of young emergency service volunteers throughout Australia.

Ayla, one of the five Extreme Weather Heroes featured on the campaigns website, will be at Perrin Park as well as some other emergency service volunteers to discuss the campaign.

This will give Brisbane families the chance to meet with a member of Extreme Weather Heroes and find out what this new generation of heroes are currently doing to protect and rebuild a number of Australian communities which have been affected by extreme weather.

CitySmart and Greenfest also join with Green Cross Australia this Sunday morning in an effort to involve Brisbane residents, make Brisbane a carbon neutral city and work towards a greener future.

The Perrin Park neighbourhood fair features a number of attractions and events aimed at making the switch to green power easier and family friendly for Brisbane households.

As well as showcases from local schools, the fair also features live reptile and wildlife displays, children's theatre and artwork activities, a live concert with performances by The Boat People and Bunna Lawrie, a free sausage sizzle and free plants for the first 500 guests.

Brisbane City Council CitySmart team members will also provide tips on how to further cut down on water use, greenhouse gas emissions, and give people the chance to estimate their current carbon footprint.

Greenfest, Australia's largest green festival, will release their 2009 program at the fair, which will feature the music acts and exhibitors involved in this years upcoming Greenfest at Brisbane's botanical gardens.

The neighbourhood fair will start at 10am at Perrin Park, Josling Street, Taringa on Sunday, April 26.
